ICYMI: 2026 Gamecock Commit Landon Duckworth Named Top 4 QB By 247Sports
Dowell Loggains and Shane Beamer are in an enviable position when it comes to their quarterback room because the two Gamecock coaches have their quarterback for each of the next three classes except for 2025. One of their quarterback commits, Landon Duckworth, joined the fold nearly two weeks ago, beating out programs like Florida and TCU for his pledge. While plenty of time remains until national signing day for the 2026 class, Duckworth could help recruit and construct that entire class.
Another reason why Landon was such a huge get for the Gamecocks is because of his on-field talent, being an athletic quarterback with a cannon of an arm, considering his age, and plenty of room to grow in his terms of footwork. This potential was recognized by 247Sports earlier this week when they released their initial Top 100 prospect list for the 2026 class. This list included ten quarterback prospects, and Landon Duckworth was slotted as the 4th best quarterback in the country and 50th-best overall prospect nationally.
One important thing to note about recruiting and building a roster is that good offensive-skill players like to play with good quarterbacks. Shane Beamer and his staff are already in the process of overhauling their offensive line, and with quarterbacks like LaNorris Sellers, Dante Reno, and Landon Duckworth currently comprising their future quarterback room, high-level skill players are likely to follow sooner rather than later.
