Amari Jefferson Includes South Carolina in Top 12
South Carolina had done an excellent job recruiting receiving weapons for their quarterbacks this off-season. The team has secured commitments from multiple high-profile pass-catchers and has made strides with another today. Four-star Wide Receiver Amari Jefferson trimmed his list of contenders down to twelve schools on Tuesday afternoon in his recruitment, and South Carolina made the cut.
The 2024 prospect is one of the top receivers in the country, ranking as the 46th-best receiver and the fifth-best player out of the state of Tennessee. The 6-1 receiver possesses scary speed and impressive elusiveness, making him a consistent scoring threat. In addition to being a talented football player, Jefferson happens to be one of the country's top baseball players, and is currently committed to Tennessee for baseball, as he looks to play both sports at the next level.
Amari hails from Chattanooga, Tennessee, playing for the prominent Baylor School, and despite the tough competition he faces, he hauled in 17 touchdowns and over 1300 receiving yards this past fall. Jefferson's top 12 includes SEC schools Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee. The other eight schools on the list are Miami, Oklahoma, Clemson, Oregon, Colorado, Florida State, Penn State, and Georgia Tech. The receivers' list is cluttered with top programs nationwide, but South Carolina has recently developed a pedigree amongst recruits nationwide that allows them to compete.
