BJ Gibson Includes Gamecocks In Top 13
Back in early February, Shane Beamer and South Carolina's Football coaching staff landed one of the top prospects in South Carolina and, simultaneously, one of the most electric offensive playmakers in the southeastern region in Mazeo Bennett. It was a recruiting win that the Gamecocks desperately needed at what's currently considered a position of need. Still, as great of a prospect as Bennett is, South Carolina knows they need to land more than just one wide receiver in this cycle.
While Justin Stepp and the rest of the offensive coaching staff are heavily in the game for players like Jonathan Paylor, Zion Ragins, and Micah Gilbert, one other player Gamecock fans should keep an eye on is BJ Gibson. Gibson visited Columbia for the program's junior day weekend back on January 21st and not long afterward de-committed from Tennessee's Baseball program, signaling that recent events, including potentially the visit mentioned above, had given him something to think about. After having taken a few more visits to other programs this Winter, Gibson recently decided to move onto the next stage of his recruitment, as he released his top 13 list this past Friday and included South Carolina.
The Gamecocks coaching staff will likely need to get BJ Gibson back on campus for another visit during their Spring practice slate or during the Summer, where they could get him for an official visit. Either way, Gibson is a prospect to watch moving forward.
