Gamecock Football Target Elijah Griffin Named A Consensus Five-Star
Shane Beamer and the Gamecocks are currently in the midst of what could be a historic recruiting class in the 2024 cycle, and a big part of this current run has been their noted success at recruiting the trenches. This trend is continuing in the 2025 class, with one of South Carolina's most renowned priority targets being Georgia native Elijah Griffin.
Griffin has visited Columbia on multiple occasions to this point in his recruitment and was being primarily recruited by Jimmy Lindsey before he became the defensive line coach at LSU in late April, with Gamecock alum Travian Robertson taking over that role. Elijah was already viewed by the majority of recruiting analysts as one of the best prospects in the country regardless of position but had yet to receive an official ranking from every major recruiting service due to being a part of the impending recruiting cycle.
That all changed on Tuesday, as On3 Sports, Rivals, 247sports, and ESPN all now have their rankings out for the 2025 class, and Elijah Griffin earned a prestigious nod, being the only consensus five-star for the cycle.
This conveys that there are very few question marks surrounding the game and the potential of Elijah Griffin at the next level, and the good news for the Gamecocks is while the home-state Georgia Bulldogs are lurking, so far, South Carolina has matched their SEC rival in terms of impressing the rising junior. There's a long way to go, but Griffin could wind up being the most coveted prospect Shane Beamer and his staff have been in the game since they arrived in the 2020 offseason.
