When it comes to their recruiting footprint, the Gamecocks make it their mission to recruit certain regions thoroughly throughout the United States. One of those regions in which the Gamecocks have done an extensive job in recruiting has been the DMV. Shane Beamer and company landed one of the top athletes in the DMV earlier this year with Nyckoles Harbor and are working on another pass-catcher from the area.

Long-time South Carolina target Keylen Adams, who hails from Virginia Beach, has just released his top five schools and his commitment date. Adams will choose between South Carolina, Virginia Tech, Ohio State, Pitt, and Alabama on July 13th.

Though the Gamecocks do not currently sit as favorites to land the four-star receiver, Adams just wrapped up a visit to South Carolina, which reportedly went excellent. After the visit, Adams took to Twitter to share some photos and laud the program and his time in Columbia.

According to On3's Industry Ranking, Adams slots as the 30th-best receiver in the class of 2024 and 174th-best player in the class. Most of his acclaim comes from his all-around ability as a receiver. Seldom do you find a high school junior who is already a capable route-runner, stands at 6-1, possesses impressive speed, and is an exceptional athlete.

When his speed and route-running doesn't quite make him a home-run threat, his shiftiness combined with those aforementioned traits makes him a dangerous YAC receiver. Totaling 16 touchdown receptions in his junior year, keeping Adams out of the end zone will always be an issue for opposing defenses at the collegiate level.

With two months to the day until Adams' commitment, the Gamecocks will have their hands full trying to entice the four-star to come to Columbia. The team has shown resilience late in an athlete's recruiting cycle, highlighted by the team's last-minute comeback landing Nyckoles Harbor.
