Where Will Anthony "Tank" Booker Commit?

If there's one area that's been a serious concern for Shane Beamer and South Carolina's Football coaching staff to this point in the offseason, it's been their depth on the defensive line, specifically at the Edge position. In a gaggle interview at halftime of one of the men's basketball games back in late January, Shane Beamer said the best way to try and solve the depth issue at defensive end was through "recruiting."

Another intriguing possibility for the Gamecocks is the chance to increase the depth on the interior defensive line to bump some of the more versatile linemen in Tonka Hemingway, Elijah Davis, and TJ Sanders out to defensive end. Enter Anthony "Tank" Booker, a 6'4 320, pound interior defensive linemen who could help both with the defensive line's depth issues and offer more firepower in rush defense, another area that Beamer and Co. would like to shore up in 2023.

Booker recorded 25 total tackles for the Maryland Terrapins this past Fall, which included four tackles for loss, two sacks, and two forced fumbles. He's a rare lineman in this upcoming transfer portal window that not only has starting experience in the trenches but has proven himself in the Big Ten, arguably the second-best power five conference in college football.

As one might guess, these thoughts have made Tank a hot commodity for those still looking for help on the defensive line, as he's visited Arkansas, Ohio State, Texas A&M, Louisville, Purdue, and South Carolina, the latter which he visited back in late March.ย

Heading into the decision, Booker will be choosing from a Top 5 of Ohio State, Purdue, Texas A&M, Arkansas and South Carolina, but there's very little information to go off of as Anthony has kept things quite close to vest.ย The best guess the GamecocksDigest staff has is that Tank will go with a place he's quite familiar with, and since he's from the state of Ohio and knows the Big Ten quite well, we believe he'll have a homecoming of sorts and roll with the Buckeyes.

Final Forecast: Ohio State
