Gamecock Commit Wendell Gregory Shows Out At Corky Kell + Dave Hunter Classic
This past Saturday in Atlanta, the Walton Raiders, a prestigious 7A football program out of the state of Georgia, competed against the Grayson Rams from Loganville, GA, in the annual Corky Kell + Dave Hunter Classic hosted in the Mercedes Benz Dome. Gamecock linebacker commit Wendell Gregory is one of the multiple stars the Walton Raiders possess, and due to his dominant performance, he was awarded the Defensive Player of the Game Saturday night.
Gregory tallied six tackles, 1.5 sacks, and 2.5 tackles for loss against the #10 ranked team in Georgia, helping his team blow out the Rams by a score of 49-27. Coming into the contest, the blue-chip backer had some tough matchups ahead of him, facing multiple UCF 2024 4-star commits in offensive tackle Waltclaire Flynn Jr. and tight end Kylan Fox, who was almost nonexistent during the first half.
Gregory set the tone for Raider's defense and was a force from the time he stepped on the field till the time the clock hit triple zeros, knocking linemen off-balance with his strength; Gregory was the force that kept coming for more. The energy and tenacious winning mentality Gregory plays with is infectious, and that mentality will lead to him quickly becoming a fan favorite in Gamecock country when he plays in Williams-Brice next Fall.
