Aggies, Bucks Basketball Star Khris Middleton Undergoes Knee Surgery
Former Texas A&M men's basketball standout Khris Middleton underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee after his current team, the Milwaukee Bucks, was eliminated from the postseason.
Middleton was sidelined at the beginning of the NBA season due to a left wrist injury, then appeared in only 33 games after returning to the Bucks lineup. He was out again just two weeks later with knee soreness.
Middleton turns 32 in August and hopes to be one of the most sought-after free agents on the NBA open market. He holds a player option for next season with the Bucks worth $40.4 million. If he decides to opt out and Milwaukee wants to keep him, he could earn as much as $272 million over five years. Other teams could offer a max of $202 million over four years.
The procedure on his knee was considered minor per The Athletic, and Middleton is expected back on the court sometime in July.
The forward from North Charleston, South Carolina played 87 games for the Aggies from 2009 through 2012, starting 72 of those. He averaged 11.3 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game while shooting 43.1 percent from the field and 32.1 percent from beyond the arc.
Middleton also shot 76.8 percent from the free throw line while with the Aggies.
