In 2022, the Texas A&M Aggies landed their second-best-rated quarterback recruit in program history in projected 2023 starter Conner Weigman.

Now, they have a chance to land arguably one of the best prospects in program history in elite 2026 quarterback Julian Lewis, who included the Aggies in his top-eight options Wednesday, according to On3's Hayes Fawcett. Texas A&M will be in completion for Lewis against blue blood programs Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, LSU, USC, Oregon and Florida State.

"It’s a place that I can see myself playing," Lewis told On3. "They care about football there probably more than anywhere else. So I know I’d always be supported."

Lewis, who won the MaxPreps Freshman National Player of the Year award in 2022, was named the top prospect in each of the next three recruiting classes by ESPN.

"He is as smooth and fluid as they come and cool under pressure," ESPN wrote. "He's advanced physically and plays with the maturity level of a senior. Lewis has terrific anticipation and ball placement. Few players have performed at his level as a varsity freshman starter."

Lewis took an unofficial visit to College Station July 30, 2022, and was offered a day later.

In his freshman season at Carrollton High School in Georgia, he threw for 4,118 yards for 48 touchdowns to just 12 interceptions on a 65.5 completion percentage en route to a Georgia state title appearance.
