The Texas A&M Aggies entered 2022 with high expectations. Perhaps too high.

Unfortunately, under the weight of those expectations, along with a calamity of errors the Aggies crumbled, going 5-7 and missing a bowl game.

And during media day, head coach Jimbo Fisher went into detail on what exactly went wrong in College Station.

“You evaluate what went wrong, know why it went wrong and why it went right," Fisher said. "It’s just like when you have a successful year: You go back to the ‘whys’. When it comes to evaluation, when you’re successful, it’s just as extensive as when you’re not successful.”

Another issue with the Aggies in 2022 was their need for young talent to step up - some of which were just months removed from their senior prom.

Walter Nolen, Conner Weigman, and Evan Stewart were just a few of those names.

“Some it was that they were the best athletes," Fisher said. "Some of it was because you had to. You want to bring freshmen in when they’re ready because you never want to destroy confidence. You can destroy a young player much faster than you can make them, so you have to be very careful.”

A year into their career now, those players are some of the team's biggest leaders.

And as a result, the Aggies should be bigger and better for it in 2023.
