Byron Young Receives Interest From Multiple Teams

The Tennessee Volunteers edge rusher Byron Young is deep in the pre-draft process with visits completed and looming ahead.

Byron Young has already visited with the Seattle Seahawks and visited with the Jacksonville Jaguars on Tuesday, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. These visits are considered top 30 visits. Each NFL team is allowed to bring in 30 players for visits of this nature before the NFL Draft at the end of April.

These visits include interviews and meetings at the team facility, as well as a physical. A source told Rapoport that Young has 11 top-30 visits. This is a great number for a player who is really not expected to go off the draft board on day one. In fact, Jordan Reid of ESPN has Byron Young going No. 100 to the Las Vegas Raiders in his full, seven-round mock draft from last week.

At Tennessee, Young had 83 total tackles in two seasons after transferring from Georgia Military College. He had 23.5 tackles for a loss in those two campaigns, with 12.5 sacks. He also had an interception and two passes defended.

At 6 feet, 2 inches tall, and an even 250 pounds, Young ran a 4.43-second 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine, marking the fourth-fastest time for all defensive linemen since 2003. This combination of speed and size is obviously garnering attention from several NFL teams. With good impressions at their facilities, Young could very well see his name read before when most people would expect.
