Get Up, It's Gameday: South Carolina
The Tennessee faithful have waited ten months for tonight. The Vols welcome an SEC foe this evening as the South Carolina Gamecocks roll into town fresh off a win against Mississippi State. South Carolina was the squad that ultimately nullified Tennessee's chances of making the CFP in 2022, and the orange and white are coming into this game with a sour taste in their mouth.
While the coaching staff and players have spoken about what that loss did to the team in junctures, they've kept a positive mindset heading into this one. Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel talked about how every game is new in his opening presser and how each week must be treated with diligence and execution. Tennessee didn't do either of those things well enough in their first in-conference test against Florida. Can they right that ship?
South Carolina carries the top SEC passer through four weeks, the talented Spencer Rattler. He's been excellent despite difficult surrounding circumstances this year, including injuries to his wide receiver room and a rotating cast on the offensive line. He can keep them in any game by himself, which Tennessee should know plenty about, considering his game against them last season was nothing short of exceptional.
