Hendon Hooker Receives Positive Medical At NFL Combine
While quarterback Hendon Hooker can't participate in on-field workouts at the NFL Combine, he went through the most critical part of his evaluation process: the medical testing. Franchises get team doctors to examine prospects, ensuring they are healthy enough for the professional level.
Hooker tore his ACL against South Carolina and underwent season-ending surgery. He expects to be running by the end of the month and should be a full participant in his first NFL training camp. He may not be able to compete for a starting spot in year one, as getting comfortable after the injury will take time.
However, it seems like he should make a full recovery. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport confirmed that Hooker had positive evaluations and should be ready for the season opener. No doctors have publicly set a timetable for Hooker, but he self-diagnosed a timetable for himself at the Reese's Senior Bowl.
A handful of teams, namely the Carolina Panthers, have publicly expressed interest in Hooker. General manager Scott Fitterer confirmed the team has met with Hooker in Indy, and there is mutual interest on both sides.
