Jeremy Banks Signs UDFA Deal With Tampa Bay

Tennessee Volunteers linebacker Jeremy Banks reached an agreement with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers shortly after the NFL Draft.

Tennessee linebacker Jeremy Banks went into the draft weekend with many believing that he would have his name read before it was all said and done. Unfortunately, that did not happen. The Shrine Bowl participant and combine invitee went undrafted, which many would argue is better than being drafted in the later rounds.

Sure, his contract may be for less, but instead of getting picked in the sixth or seventh round to a team that he has no say over, he will now get to choose where he will fight for a roster. He has decided and agreed to terms with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Tampa needed linebacker depth after inside linebacker Devin White requested a trade, and they are bringing in camp bodies to compete for a role.

At Tennessee, Banks had an up-and-down career. It is still unknown why he did not play a part in the loss against South Carolina at the end of this season, and he was also dismissed from the team in the Jeremy Pruitt era before being reinstated. Once he got back on the field, he made the most of his opportunity.

In 2021, Banks had 128 total tackles, including 11.5 tackles for a loss and 5.5 sacks. He was not quite as effective in 2022, but he still had 53 total tackles. At the combine, his 4.53-second 40-yard dash was good for eighth among linebackers. However, only two players above him were running heavier than his 232 pounds.
