Princeton Fant Signs As UDFA With Cowboys
Tight end Princeton Fant inked a deal with the Dallas Cowboys as an undrafted free agent on Saturday after the conclusion of the NFL Draft. The Cowboys drafted Luke Schoonmaker as a tight end on Friday in the second round with the No. 58 overall pick.
Jake Ferguson also had 19 receptions for 174 and two touchdowns last season for Dallas. At Tennessee, Fant totaled 52 receptions for 579 yards and five touchdowns across 46 games in five seasons. He also scored five rushing touchdowns in 2022 on six carries and even threw for a score, too, on his only attempt of the season.
Obviously, Fant’s versatility is something that at least drew the attention of NFL scouts to at least see him in their facilities. Now, his passing touchdown isn’t going to give him any opportunities at quarterback, but his ability to find the end zone as a receiver and a rusher is something teams could be interested in, especially in the red zone. He’ll have his work cut out for him to make the team, or even the practice squad, for that matter, but he has at least gotten himself in with a team, which is the first step. We will see how he performs throughout the mini-camp and training camp.
