New Orleans Saints Hosting Hendon Hooker For Top-30 Visit

Tennessee Volunteers quarterback Hendon Hooker has been trending upwards in mock drafts and is visiting the New Orleans Saints starting Tuesday.
In this story:

Quarterback Hendon Hooker will be in New Orleans starting Tuesday, visiting the New Orleans Saints as the NFL pre-draft process heats up, as Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports. The Saints hold the No. 29 overall pick in this year’s draft. They also just recently signed former Raiders quarterback Derek Carr to a four-year, $150 million deal, which Rapoport and Mike Garafolo also reported.

In February, Ryan Fowler reported the Saints as one of five teams that met “extensively” with Hooker. This report came out when New Orleans was just in the conversation for Carr, not yet having signed him. The fact that they are bringing Hooker in even after that signing shows that there is a strong interest in Hooker in New Orleans. Jameis Winston is also still in the quarterback room, and Taysom Hill, the Swiss Army Knife of the Saints offense, is on the roster.

As for other teams, ESPN’s Mike Tannenbaum mocked Hooker to the Seattle Seahawks with the fifth overall pick in his mock draft last week. The other four teams in Fowler’s report were the Raiders, Panthers, Giants, and Cowboys. This report came out before the Panthers traded for the number one overall pick.

Assuming they use that selection on a quarterback who isn’t Hooker, they are likely now out of contention as a possible landing spot. Additionally, the Giants have locked up Daniel Jones long-term since this report. Just as the situations around the league have changed a lot in the last couple of weeks, we can expect more changes regarding the Hooker sweepstakes in the few weeks leading up to the NFL Draft.
