Array of Tennessee Pass Catchers Show Out In NFL Training Camp
One of the best things from training camp is highlight reel catches. It happens all the time, year after year, and so far, this year is no different. On Monday, Jalin Hyatt made a phenomenal catch and posted a warp speed at Giants camp, and on Tuesday, two more Vols made big plays. Firstly, fellow rookie Cedric Tillman made a diving grab at Browns' camp.
Tillman laid out to secure the catch on a deep ball down the sideline. The third-round pick is one of several wide receivers looking to move up the Browns' depth chart. Amari Cooper leads the way, but after that, there are a lot of question marks. Elijah Moore has joined the corps, but he is coming off a disappointing year, and Donovan Peoples-Jones is coming off of a strong year trying to prove himself further. In addition to those two, Tillman will be fighting for time with the likes of Marquise Goodwin and David Bell, and plays like the one he had on Tuesday will likely go a long way.
Josh Palmer is a more veteran player in the league, entering his third season. After 769 yards last year, he is trending in the right direction, but the Chargers used their first-round pick on TCU wide receiver Quentin Johnston, with Keenan Allen and Mike Williams already on the roster. This means that Palmer could use a strong camp to show that he belongs with the big boys of this Bolts' offense. On Tuesday, he leaped and reached out his right hand to snag a ball he had no business catching for a highlight-reel play. Just like Tillman, he must continue to flash in August if he wants to be a big part of his team's offense come September.
