The Tennessee Volunteers have made the offensive line a point of emphasis in the 2024 recruiting cycle. They lost several contributors this offseason and need to reload up front. Offensive line coach Glen Elarbee has already secured three commitments in the cycle but still has targets left. Many come off the board this week, the first being three-star offensive tackle Ronan O'Connell (Franklin, Tenn.).

O'Connell's finalists are Clemson, Tennessee, and Wisconsin. He made stops at each program this summer for official visits and quickly came to a decision. The Tennessee native has been to Knoxville more than any other college program, and for a long time, they were the favorite. However, a recent push by the Clemson Tigers and developments in Tennessee's recruiting class has evened things out.

The Vols already have three offensive linemen in the class, as mentioned previously. They are also holding a spot for four-star offensive tackle Bennett Warren (Sugar Land, Tx.), one of the top tackles in America who was blown away by his Tennessee official visit. Four-star offensive guard William Satterwhite (Akron, Oh.) announces his commitment on Friday, and Tennessee feels optimistic in that one, another battle with Clemson. The coaching staff also plans to continue recruiting four-star offensive tackle Daniel Calhoun (Marietta, Ga.) even if he doesn't pick the Vols when he announces his commitment on Wednesday. You can only take so many offensive linemen, and Tennessee may lose out on O'Connell as a result.

Clemson did an excellent job cultivating a family atmosphere on O'Connell's official visit, as is the norm with the Tigers. He's gravitated toward their program for months now, and that should push Clemson across the finish line in this one.
