Dominick McKinley Delays Signing, Will Visit Tennessee

2024 five-star defensive lineman Dominick McKinley (Lafayette, La.) is committed to Texas A&M but has plans to visit the Tennessee Volunteers.

Five-star Tennessee target and Texas A&M commit Dominick McKinley has delayed his signing day to the next signing day period. McKinley is a 6-5, 280-pound defensive lineman from Acadiana High School in Lafayette, Louisiana. McKinley has been committed to Texas A&M since September 1st; however, he will not sign early with the Aggies.

Reports have flown in from 247Sports' Steve Wiltfong that McKinley has been in contact with many schools and plans to take an official visit to Tennessee in January. The expected date for the official visit is January 20th for the Alabama vs. Tennessee basketball game inside of Thompson-Boling Arena at Food City Center. 

Tennessee already held an in-home visit with the five-star earlier this month as defensive coordinator Tim Banks and defensive line coach Rodney Garner visited the defensive lineman. His mother made it very clear when talking to 247Sports that there was no chance of him signing his early signing day papers. Although Tennessee has him scheduled for a visit, they are not the only team that has him scheduled for a visit. His in-state college, LSU, has been in contact in attempts to get him up on an expected official visit in January. 

Tennessee already has multiple commits at the edge and the defensive line positions in this class. The commits and signees include Jordan Ross, Kellen Lindstrom, Jamal Wallace, Jeremias Heard, and Carson Gentle, among others; however, most of the commits will likely play outside on the edge. McKinley has great potential to play down the pipe and clog the middle of the line. The longer this recruitment goes, the better position Tennessee is in, as they will attempt to make a huge impact and attempt to land a third five-star prospect.
