Elijah Rushing Plans Summer Trip To Knoxville
Edge rusher Elijah Rushing is every coach's dream coming off the edge. The Tuscon, Arizona, product has about every tool you could dream of. In a 6'6" 235-pound frame with great speed, there is no doubt Rushing, who 247Sports projects as a first-round pick, will have a plethora of suitors awaiting.
One of those suitors happens to be the Tennessee Volunteers. The Vols are beginning to develop a strong pass-rushing culture; head coach Josh Heupel signed two All-American rushers in 2023, and Bryon Young will be an NFL Draft pick in a matter of weeks.
Tennessee has thrown its name into the hat and kept in touch with Rushing, despite him being a west-coast recruit. On Wednesday, he announced several summer visits and will see Oregon, Arizona, Notre Dame, and Tennessee in the next few months. He will spend the better part of June traveling around the country and getting a close look at his suitors.
He isn't the first high-end 2024 defensive lineman that Tennessee is pursuing. Five-star defensive end Williams Nwaneri visited the Vols over the weekend and was blown away by the staff; he quickly schedule an official visit and they seem to be in a strong position for him. Furthermore, five-star defensive end Kamarion Franklin is considering the Vols after a few productive visits.
