Jaelyne Matthews Cuts Recruitment To Six Schools
Toms River North High School offensive tackle Jaelyne Matthews is one of the country's most coveted big men and has recently liked the University of Tennessee. He made his first unofficial visit to Knoxville, Tennessee, in February and liked what he saw enough to include the Vols in his top six schools.
Matthews is down to Georgia, Maryland, Miami, Rutgers, Syracuse, and Tennessee. He's locked in official visits with Georgia, Miami, and Tennessee and plans to schedule one with Rutgers shortly. He ranks as the No. 90 prospect in the 2025 class, according to the 247Sports' Composite Rankings. Matthews stands 6-5 and 290 pounds and is one of Tennessee's top targets at the offensive tackle position, where they currently don't have any commits in the 2025 class.
Tennessee offensive line coach Glen Elarbee has done a nice job of retooling the bodies in the offensive line room over the past through years on the recruiting trail. 2025 is an important cycle for him to continue building that momentum - he must land a subset of these top tackles that he's spent time on over the past few months.
