Jesse Perry On His Recruitment: "Tennessee Has Been My Home Since I Committed"
Tennessee used the Georgia game last weekend as a massive recruiting weekend. They hosted high-priority junior targets, uncommitted seniors on unofficial visits, and ensured they had current commits on campus to aid their coaching staff. One of the commits who stopped by was long-time offensive tackle commit Jesse Perry.
Perry is an offensive tackle who has been committed to the Vols since April 7th, 2023. He is a current three-star and measures around 6-6 and 277 pounds. He will be with the Volunteers next season, as he is a current 2024 prospect. He took the time to detail his game-day visit with Volunteer Country.
He opened up the conversation by saying, "It was good. I enjoyed getting back on campus and talking to the commits, coaches, and other recruits." He then went into details by saying the commits he spoke with were "Gage Ginther, Max Anderson, Jordan Ross, Jake Merklinger, Boo Carter, Kaleb Beasley, Carson Gentle, and Peyton Lewis. The conversations went well. I just got to know my future teammates a little better. I enjoyed chopping it up with them."
Though Perry got time to kick back and enjoy the atmosphere, he also wore his recruiting hat for much of his time on campus. "I got around and talked to a couple of recruits. I think I made a good impression on them and helped recruit them to Tennessee. I talked to Roger Saleapaga, Bobby Kanka, David Sanders, and Jaren Sensabaugh. Also, my conversations with the coaches went well. I talked to Coach [Josh] Heupel, Coach [Glen] Elarbee, Coach [Kevin] Pendleton, Coach Micah [James], and Coach [McKenzie] Milton."
He has been on a visit to Tennessee multiple times, but he did say this one was different. He said this visit was unique by saying, "It kind of gave me the realization that this is really my home for the next 3–5 years. It hadn't really clicked yet up to that point, but it became real Saturday." He also claims he might visit again soon by saying, "I might be going to the Vandy game this week, but I'm not sure yet." Finally, he was asked if he was still looking into other schools or if his recruitment was closed. Vols fans will appreciate his answer as he responded, "It's definitely closed. Tennessee has been my home since I committed in April."
