In-State Target Commits To Tennessee
Tennessee's 2024 recruiting class has gotten a little bit bigger. Defensive back Marcus Goree has committed to the Volunteers over Colorado, Nebraska, Michigan, and Michigan State.
The three-star Tennessee native ended his recruitment abruptly. He released his top five on Thursday and quickly set a Saturday commitment date. The Volunteers and Goree have shared mutual interest for a long time, and it seemed time for him to commit.
Goree is the fourth member of Tennessee's 2024 class. He joins corner Kaleb Beasley and defensive lineman Carson Gentle on the defense, while athlete Jonathan Echols will play tight end at the college level.
Prospect: Marcus Goree
Projected Position: STAR
Vitals: 6-0.5 and 170 lbs.
School: Bradley Central (Cleveland, Tennessee)
Frame: Goree's size limited him during the recruitment process. While he now holds several major offers, he needed a big junior season to stand out to big-time programs. However, his length and physicality should allow him to remain competitive at the SEC level.
Athleticism: Reports indicate that Goree can run a 4.4-second forty-yard dash. That time shows on tape; Goree shrinks field quickly and has strong hip dexterity, enabling him to turn on a dime.
Instincts: He is one of the best processors in the class, which reflects how many positions he can play. Goree knows how to play football at a high level from various spots; he can tackle and cover at a high level.
Polish: There needs to be some physical refinement once he enters a college weight room, but his game is quite polished. Goree will compete hard once he steps on a college campus and should push for snaps once he adds muscle.
Bottom Line: While he isn't a top-450 prospect on any recruiting service, Goree is a difference-maker. That should be reflected by the top programs calling after his junior year.
