Peyton Lewis: "I 110% Made The Correct Decision"
Tennessee has put together a very impressive 2024 recruiting class. Many of these commits were able to visit Tennessee this past weekend. Among that list is a very talented running back commit, Peyton Lewis. The 6'1, 197-pound four-star spoke with Volunteer Country following his visit to watch Tennessee capture a win over the Aggies.
The 2024 commit spoke highly of his time on his visit to Tennessee, saying, "This past visit was my first Tennessee football game day, and I enjoyed every moment. Seeing some of the other commits, feeling the fans' passion, and overall experiencing the atmosphere helped me fall in love with the University of Tennessee more." In his recruitment, Lewis has visited Tennessee multiple times before ultimately committing to the Vols in May during the 865 Live Event. The Vols running backs had a very impressive performance on Saturday, which caught the eyes of the young commit. "Tennessee's running backs have shown out every game. I love how each running back is as much of a threat as one another. That is definitely something I would love to be a part of," the young commit states.
You will often see a high school commit attempt to recruit other high school prospects before they even get a chance to play for their team. Lewis had a certain five-star quarterback that he was recruiting who was also on a visit to Tennessee. "I was mostly talking with George MacIntyre to see how he felt about Tennessee. I also let him know that I was expecting him to be back to see another game." MacIntyre is a ‘2025 five-star quarterback who currently plays school ball at Brentwood Academy in Nashville, Tennessee. The Vols running back commit made it known that he would like to see him in orange and white.
Lewis also had a chance to speak with his position coaches and other coaches on the staff. He says, "I don't think there was a coach I didn't talk to while I was on my visit. I mainly talked to the running back coaches, Coach Mack and Coach Walt. They're great guys that I love being around." The speedy back is currently the lone running back in this class for the Vols and has been a priority to the staff since before he committed.
Volunteer Country had the opportunity to touch base on his commitment. When asked if he felt he made the correct choice, he responded, "I 110% made the correct choice. Now that I have committed, I can't see myself anywhere else in the world. I love the University of Tennessee." It is safe to say the young runningback is staying true to his commitment to the University of Tennessee coaching staff and program.
