There's a lot of major news surrounding 2024 quarterbacks within the next few days. Jake Merklinger committed to the University of Tennessee on Monday, Jadyn Davis makes his college decision this afternoon, and Air Noland commits on April 8.

While the Vols aren't involved with Noland, there is significant interest between Tennessee and Davis. He is a North Carolina native that has dominated social media for the past few years; Davis accounted for 45 touchdowns in 2022 and won Mr. North Carolina Football. He teamed up with 2025 offensive tackle David Sanders to form one of the most potent high school offenses; they went 12-1 at Providence Day and won the state championship.

The final five programs for Davis are Tennessee, Michigan, Ohio State, North Carolina, and Clemson. The in-state Carolina schools, UNC and Clemson, made strong pushes in this recruitment, but it seems like the allure of high-powered offense will lure him away from his home region.

Tennessee likely comes in No. 3 in this battle. Had they been involved earlier, they may have made a run at Davis, but sources confirm that the Tennessee coaching staff wasn't overly impressed with the quarterback talent in 2024. There's one blue-chip prospect, Dylan Raiola, but aside from that, it's a lengthy list of high-upside players with apparent flaws. The staff decided to push their chips in on Merklinger, a decision that paid off when he committed.

This recruiting battle seems to be between two of the biggest rivals in college football, Michigan and Ohio State. The Buckeyes sport head coach Ryan Day and that prestigious offense, one that made Justin Fields a first-round pick and could make CJ Stroud the No. 1 overall pick. The scarlet and grey had Raiola's verbal commitment a few months ago, but when he re-opened his recruitment, they were back on the quarterback market.

Meanwhile, Michigan and head coach Jim Harbaugh have emerged as heavy favorites for his pledge and have for a while. Davis loves Ann Arbor's environment and feels he could operate the Wolverines' offense efficiently. JJ McCarthy had a strong season for Michigan, throwing for 22 touchdowns and just five interceptions in his first starting stint. That performance spoke volumes to Davis about where he could take the offense upon arrival.

Prediction: Michigan Wolverines
