Where The Vols Stand With Shamar Arnoux, Outlining His Decision
It's decision day for 2025 corner Shamar Arnoux. The four-star defender will come off the board within the hour, finding his college home after his final two high school seasons. Arnoux is deciding between Tennessee, Michigan, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida State, Texas A&M, LSU, and Ole Miss.
Several SEC powers are pursuing the Georgia native, but it seems like relationships are going to win out in this one. Arnoux wanted to feel like a priority, and the Vols have made him feel like one for a while. He's visited Tennessee more than any other school, most recently traveling to Knoxville on April 1.
He had a good visit on Rocky Top, a major win heading into the decision week. He got a glimpse at Tennessee's first spring scrimmage, which reportedly was high-intensity for the duration. Several other recruits remarked about the energy, and it's fair to imagine Arnoux was as impressed as the others.
Arnoux certainly fits the Tennessee corner profile. He stands 6-1 and 175 pounds with tons of physicality. He's accustomed to playing in a base defense and slightly changing looks; he previously played at Westlake High School before transferring to Milton, and Westlake primarily ran two-man concepts.
The Vols run so quickly on offense that the defense must be ready to play an excess of snaps, meaning they stay in base packages a lot. He can step in from day one and understand those responsibilities; his battle when getting to college will be getting more pass coverage reps.
