Tennessee wide receivers coach Kelsey Pope has been active on the recruiting trail since the season's end and has gotten news on several priority prospects. 2025 carries several important objectives for this coaching staff on the recruiting trail, chief among them continuing a hot run of wide receivers.

The Vols landed four-star quarterback Jake Merklinger in the 2024 class, who attended Calvary Day School in Savannah, Georgia. They are returning there in 2025 for his teammate, four-star wide receiver Thomas Blackshear. He ranks as the No. 307 prospect in the cycle, according to 247Sports' Composite Rankings. Blackshear hauled in 27 catches for 551 yards and five touchdowns during his junior campaign and is now down to three schools: Florida State, Georgia, and Tennessee. He broke down what intrigues him about the Vols with On3's Hunter Shelton.

Tennessee has gotten off to a strong start on the defensive side of the football in their 2025 class. They landed a trio of talented corners from Milton High School in Alpharetta, Georgia: Shamar Arnoux, Dylan Lewis, and Tyler Redmond. They also have commitments from four-star tight end Jack VanDorselaer and four-star running back Justin Baker. The coaching staff is hosting a junior day event on the weekend of January 20th that will carry many important visitors.
