The Tennessee Volunteers need secondary help. Everyone knows it, especially after last season's poor outing against South Carolina. The Gamecocks scored 63 points in a game that ended the Vols' College Football Playoff hopes; head coach Josh Heupel has made it clear he won't let that happen again.

Tennessee added a secondary commit in December, 2024 safety Marcus Goree. Their next secondary addition comes in the 2025 class, as four-star corner Shamar Arnoux pledged his services on Friday, committing over several other SEC powers like LSU, Texas A&M, and Auburn.

Arnoux has burst onto the scene in recent weeks, rising up recruiting rankings and garnering some buzz. He transferred high schools this offseason and is preparing for a critical season of development; he has two more high school seasons before he's off to Rocky Top.

Prospect: Shamar Arnoux

Projected Position: Slot Corner

Vitals: 6-1 and 175 pounds

School: Milton High School (Alpharetta, Georgia)

Frame: Should add ten pounds of muscle before college, but has two seasons in a high-level weight room to do so. Meets the height and length prerequisites for a Tennessee corner and uses his frame as such.

Athleticism: Not an over-powering athlete, but one with strong ankle flexion and hip dexterity. Arnoux can snap out of his stance and drive his knees over his toes to generate maximum explosion. Few corners shift leverage as he does during a route's progression, though he could improve foot speed at the line of scrimmage.

Instincts: A super instinctual defender with one speed: hit something. Arnoux hits hard when he arrives but isn't overzealous in pursuing; he calculates the angles in front of him, decides quickly, and attacks. Must develop his instincts in pass coverage reps, but he has two years before that's even a concern.

Polish: Arnoux needs more reps in pass coverage. He transferred to Milton in hopes of finding those, and his college readiness will reflect the Milton staff. They run a strong program with a prestigious history, and he should be properly developed by the time signing day rolls around.

Bottom Line: Tennessee adds a corner with a ton of ability and a strong physical profile. Arnoux is an excellent way for them to begin the 2025 recruiting class, and the Vols have once again hit the ground running.
