Four-Star LB Tylen Singleton Commits To LSU Over Tennessee
The Tennessee Volunteers have mounted a lot of recruiting momentum in the past week. Five-star wide receiver Mike Matthews and four-star inside linebacker Edwin Spillman joined their 2024 class this week, and another domino has fallen, though this one didn't go Tennessee's way.
On Saturday evening, four-star inside linebacker Tylen Singleton committed to LSU over Tennessee and several other suitors. The Louisiana native developed a close relationship with the coaching staff in Baton Rouge and felt a general comfort knowing the area. The Vols did make this recruitment interesting after getting him in Knoxville, Tennessee, at the end of June, but the proximity to home was too steep a mountain for the Vols. They already have Spillman and fellow four-star Jordan Burns joining the inside linebacker room and are holding a spot for Virginia four-star Chris Cole, who returns to Rocky Top at the end of the month.
Tennessee still has an opportunity to put together an impressive front-seven class. They already have five front-seven players committed in the 2024 class and are holding spots for several more important prospects. Adding Spillman on Friday lessens the blow of losing Singleton, though it makes things a lot more interesting with Chris Cole.
