After a short four-game road trip the Texas Longhorns (21-9, 4-2) were happy to return home on Tuesday afternoon for a midweek matchup against the Air Force Falcons (11-19).

It was a mixed bag in terms of results for the Longhorns away from home. They took the midweek game over rivals Texas A&M and the series opener against Oklahoma State, but then dropped the final two games and the series against the Cowboys with the offense going cold.

That was not the case against Air Force, however, as the Longhorn bats once again roared to life in a 7-1 win, improving Texas' record at Disch-Falk Field to 18-2 this season.

As was often the case over their 16-game win streak, the long ball was the difference in the win over the Falcons. The Longhorns slugged three home runs - a two-run home run from Peyton Powell in the first, a two-run home run from Dylan Campbell in the fourth and a solo home run from Rylan Galvan in the fifth.

Galvan provided one of the two other Texas runs with an RBI triple, while Eric Kennedy's sac fly was the only run that did not come from an extra base hit.

Ace Whitehead got the start on the mound for the Longhorns and gave them his best outing so far this season, limiting the Falcons offense to only one run on four hits scattered across four innings of work.

Behind Whitehead the Longhorns bullpen was as dominant as it has looked all season, tossing five innings of no-hit baseball to secure the 7-1 win and snap the Longhorns' two-game losing skid.

What's next for Texas?

The Longhorns have a quick turnaround with the Kansas State Wildcats coming to town on Thursday to kick off a three-game conference series at 6:30 p.m. CT.
