It was another strong week for the Texas Longhorns (23-10, 6-3) as they bounced back in impressive fashion from a small two-game losing streak to go 3-1 on the week.

They returned home for a four-game home stand, which they kicked off with a 7-1 midweek win over Air Force and followed it up with a series win over the Kansas State Wildcats that earned them sole possession of first place in the Big 12.

While the Longhorns would have liked to have the sweep of the Wildcats, and the loss on Saturday is rather disappointing, it is hard to scoff at a series win in conference play that keeps them in the thick of a conference title race.

Now, though, they must turn their attention to a midweek home and home set with the Texas State Wildcats, just one day after finishing up their series against Kansas State.

A look at Texas State's season so far

The Bobcats are once again putting together a solid season and will likely once again be an NCAA Tournament team that vies to win a regional. They've been solid all season long without any extended winning or losing streaks, however they do enter Monday's night game having lost two straight.

Texas State by the numbers

Record: 20-12

Runs scored: 231

Runs allowed: 214

Team Avg.: .266

Team ERA: 6.06

Texas State wins this series if...

It can take advantage of a Texas pitching staff that has just played three games in three days, and will make it five in five after Tuesday. The weather postponing the series against Kansas State could stretch the Longhorns bullpen thin, which could bode well for a strong Texas State offense.

Texas wins this series if...

It can keep the offense rolling and feast on a pitching staff that has been inconsistent so far this season. The offense for the Longhorns has really come on strong in recent weeks, but they've still shown that they struggle against stronger pitching. If they can keep the bats hot on Monday and Tuesday, they'll like their chances of taking both midweek games.
