Longhorns Look For First Win of Season Against No. 10 Vanderbilt

The Longhorns wrap up their trip to the College Baseball Showdown on Sunday against Vanderbilt.

ARLINGTON - It has not been a successful trip to Arlington so far for the Texas Longhorns (0-2) so far, as they will look to get in the win column for the first time this season on Sunday against the Vanderbilt Commodores (1-1).

The Longhorns were walked off for their second loss of the season on Saturday, with the Missouri Tigers picking up the 6-5 win. Offense has been an issue in both of Texas' losses so far with both games seeing the Longhorns fail to pull off comeback wins.

However, outside of a pair of three-run innings in said losses, the pitching has been reliable for Texas. If the bats can wake up as the season progresses, this could be a fun Texas team to watch.

As for now, the Longhorns look to avoid an 0-3 start against Vanderbilt.

Vanderbilt wins this game if...

Much like Arkansas and Missouri have shown, if you can shut down the Texas lineup you will likely win. After all, it is a lineup that lost seven of nine starters from last season. The Commodores, though, have given up 20 runs in two games, which may bode well for Texas' chances of waking up the bats on Sunday.

Texas wins this game if...

Speaking of Texas' bats waking up, that is exactly how they can win this game. They've shown signs of life but overall two straight inconsistent performances have let them down. However, if they can take advantage of a Commodore pitching staff that has looked shaky to start the season, they could put up a fair amount of runs.
