Texas Beats San Diego 9-4, Wins Season Opening Series: Live Game Log

The Longhorns look to bounce back from a rough loss on Saturday afternoon.

Going undefeated in any sport is difficult. That rings especially true in college baseball, a sport that features over 50 games and where even the nation's elite teams have an off day. 

Just ask the Texas Longhorns (1-1) who dropped the second game of their three-game set against the San Diego Toreros (1-1) on Saturday afternoon in extra innings. The Longhorns had multiple chances to put the game away but ultimately came up just short in the end. 

A strong back-and-forth affair saw the Longhorns rally to tie it in the tenth inning after plating two runs but could not have the same result in the eleventh. The game ended after a base running error from Casey Cummings saw him doubled up at first.

Now, Texas turns its attention to the series finale on Sunday afternoon and aims to clinch the first series win of 2024.
