The Texas Longhorns entered last season uncertain about how good or bad they would be. They were replacing seven of nine offensive starters along with their Friday night starter, which is not easy for any team.

However, they put any questions to bed when they went out and won the conference championship. Even though they did come up one game short of their third straight College World Series, they are in a great place ahead of the 2024 season.

It has been a busy offseason so far the Longhorns, with David Pierce and the staff active in the transfer portal. Not just that, but they'll be returning two elite arms in Lebarron Johnson Jr. and Tanner Witt, their starting left fielder Porter Brown and third baseman Peyton Powell

After Powell announced his return on Tuesday night, the Longhorns got another present with second baseman Jack O'Dowd announcing his return as well.

O'Dowd was a staple for the Longhorns' last season, providing elite glovework behind his pitchers. He also was a stable bat in the lineup, heating up down the stretch and ending the season with a .284/.353/.441 while driving in 37 runs.

Getting O'Dowd back alongside guys like Brown and Powell in the lineup is a huge win for the Longhorns, and will have them on track as a strong contender to make it to Omaha next season.
