Back to Buffalo: Longhorns RB Bijan Robinson to Bills in Mel Kiper Mock Draft

Bijan Robison to the Bills has been a trendy pick in mock drafts, and one that Mel Kiper sees happening
In this story:

One of the most highly debated topics regarding the NFL draft has become the value of the running back position and whether or not they are worth using a first-round pick on.

While a large contingent of fans and analysts alike believe there's more value to be found at the position in later rounds, one running back is set to buck that trend this year.

The running back? Texas Longhorns superstar Bijan Robinson

Robinson is widely seen as a consensus first-round pick, with the question being where he lands. A popular pick in mock drafts has been Robinson heading to Buffalo, a pick which Mel Kiper made in his latest mock draft.

Rd. 1 No. 27 - Bijan Robinson - RB (Texas)

"I keep coming back to Robinson being perfect for this Bills offense. He could be a security blanket for Josh Allen in the pass game, and he can rip off chunk plays as a ball carrier. He breaks a ton of tackles and has tremendous vision.

He's the most complete back in this class. As I've written before, Robinson is a top-10 prospect on my board, but his positional value means he's going to drop into the 20s. I know Buffalo has James Cook and just added Damien Harris on a one-year deal, but Robinson is on another level."

Yes, the Bills drafted James Cook in the 2022 draft and signed Damien Harris this offseason, but that might not rule them out of the running for Robinson. After all, as Kiper noted Harris is on a one-year deal while Robinson and Cook could be the running back duo of the future in Buffalo.

It isn't hard to see the allure of adding Robinson to an offense already featuring Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs. After all, the Doak Walker winner rushed for 1,580 yards and 18 touchdowns in his final season at Texas.

Of course, the Bills could opt to go a different direction when they're on the clock in April, but selecting Robinson makes plenty of sense on paper - and could help them finally get over the hump in the playoffs.
