Bijan and Belichick: Longhorns RB to Patriots in NFL Mock Draft

Bijan Robinson once again heads to the AFC East, but this mock draft sees him land with a new team.
In this story:

At this point, with just over a month until the NFL draft, it seems to be a foregone conclusion that Texas Longhorns running back Bijan Robinson will hear his name called in the first round.

In doing so he will be the first Longhorn taken in the first round since 2015 when the New England Patriots drafted defensive tackle Malcom Brown at No. 32 overall. The question, though, is not if he'll go in the first round but when he will.

Well, draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah has Robinson heading to the very same team that was responsible for the last Longhorns first-round pick.

Rd. 1 No. 14 - Bijan Robinson - RB (Texas)

The Patriots don’t think like every other franchise. I believe they could see Robinson as a valuable addition instead of a player at a non-premium position. He would team up with Rhamondre Stevenson to give New England one of the best backfields in the NFL.

While the Patriots have a reliable running back in Rhamondre Stevenson, who rushed for a team-high 1,040 yards and five touchdowns last season, after him the running back room is thin - especially with Damien Harris signing with the Bills.

That could be where Robinson comes in as the Doak Walker winner will elevate the running back room of whichever team he is drafted to. In his final season as a Longhorn he rushed for 1,580 yards and 18 touchdowns, torching opposing defenses on a weekly basis.

When the NFL draft is officially underway in April, Robinson is likely to be a first-round pick - and could be the next great Patriots running back if they believe he's worth the pick.
