Steve Sarkisian 'Not Really Concerned About' Texas Longhorns College Football Playoff Ranking
AUSTIN, TX -- The Texas Longhorns debuted at the No. 7 spot in the initial College Football Playoff Rankings that were released on Tuesday night.
And despite that not being where they would like to be in an ideal world, the Longhorns are still in a good spot, and Steve Sarkisian is not worried.
"It's so early in this thing that I'm not really concerned about it," Sarkisian said. "There's so much football left to be played."
That might come as a surprise on the surface to some. However, there is reason for Sarkisian to be confident.
For all intents and purposes, the Longhorns still control their own destiny in the CFP race. They have arguably the best resumé of any one-loss team in the country, and they still have a date with a top-10 team - the Oklahoma Sooners - to help erase the lone blemish on their record.
If they can do that, they will find themselves in a great position to make the playoffs.
As for what the other teams in front of them have left? That is out of the Longhorns' control, so ultimately, it is not something that Sarkisian or his players can worry about right now.
All they can do is take care of what is in front of them on Saturday - the Kansas State Wildcats.
"The key is focusing on what you can control, and what we can control is our preparation and then ultimately the way we play Saturday," Sarkisian said. "We can't get caught up in what other people are doing."
If they can do that? They just might hear good news when the regular season comes to an end.
