Longhorns, Rest of Big 12 See Major Shift in AP Top 25

The Texas Longhorns joined a handful of other Big 12 teams that saw their rankings chance in Monday's release of the AP Poll.
In this story:

The Texas Longhorns have fallen one spot from No. 5 to No. 6 in the AP Top 25, per the newest rankings release on Monday.

Texas slaughtered the West Virginia Mountaineers 94-60 on Saturday, but it was the Longhorns' 88-80 loss to the No. 9 Kansas Jayhawks on Feb. 6 that prevented them from moving further up this week's rankings.

The Longhorns (20-5, 9-3) still hold sole possession of first place in the conference headed into Monday's matchup with the Texas Tech Red Raiders in Lubbock. But in a Big 12 that saw some major shift in the newest rankings release, anything can happen.

Out of the six ranked Big 12 teams, five saw changes in their rank, with some experiencing some big jumps or falls.

The Kansas Jayhawks rose four spots up from No. 9 to No. 5 after beating Texas while the Baylor Bears leaped up from No. 14 to No. 9.

After back-to-back losses to unranked West Virginia and Oklahoma State, the Iowa State Cyclones fell eight spots from No. 11 to No. 19. The TCU Horned Frogs are in the middle of a three-game losing streak and slipped from No. 17 to No. 22.

The No. 12 Kansas State Wildcats were the only Big 12 team to not move in the rankings.

The Longhorns and Red Raiders tip-off from United Supermarkets Arena at 8 p.m. CT.
