UCF Transfer Ithiel Horton Commits to Texas
AUSTIN, Texas -- The Texas Longhorns may have just added the final piece to their roster puzzle.
The team hosted UCF graduate transfer guard Ithiel Horton for an official visit on Wednesday, and now according to reports, he is committed to the program.
The Longhorns will now mark the fourth team he's played for in his collegiate career. He started out with Delaware in 2018 before sitting out his transfer gap year prior to the COVID-cancelled NCAA Tournament in 2019-20. Horton got back to the court with the Pitt Panthers for the 2020-21 season, where he played for two years before transferring to UCF.
During his only season with the Knights last year, Horton started all 34 games while averaging 12.3 points, 3.7 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 1.4 steals per game. He's a proven scorer with a high ceiling and the ability to get hot from behind the arc, as he had eight games with four or more triples last season.
This included a 30-point performance during a double-overtime win over Memphis in January.
Horton will bring some valuable experience and scoring ability to the Longhorns, and should immediately compete for a starting role or a leading sixth-man spot.
