Longhorns Men's Basketball: Updated Look at Roster

As it stands, the Texas Longhorns have a strong squad that is certainly capable of contending for a Big 12 regular-season and tournament title once again during their final season in the conference.

AUSTIN, Texas -- The 2023-24 roster for Texas Longhorns men's basketball is beginning to reach its full form as the team continues through summer workouts.

The Longhorns and coach Rodney Terry will likely still have to add at least one new face via the transfer portal before the action begins this November in order to complete the team. But as it stands, the Longhorns have a strong squad that is certainly capable of contending for a Big 12 regular-season and tournament title once again during their final season in the conference.

Here's LonghornsCountry.com's projections for what the rotation could look like:

Projected starters:

G Max Abmas (transfer)

G Tyrese Hunter

F Dillon Mitchell

F Dylan Disu

F/C Kadin Shedrick (transfer)

Bench:

G Chendall Weaver (transfer)

F Ze'Rik Onyema (transfer)

F Brock Cunningham

G Chris Johnson

F Alex Anamekwe

Reserves:

F Cole Bott

G Gavin Perryman

F Preston Clark

Texas got a major boost by returning three starters in Mitchell, Disu and Hunter. The spacing will certainly work differently without Timmy Allen in the starting five, meaning Mitchell might be asked to expand his offensive role during his second season on the Forty Acres.

As for the backcourt, Hunter and Abmas will be arguably one of college basketball's top guard duos this season. It only adds to the excitement that a bouncy athlete like Chendall Weaver will be coming off the bench behind them during his second collegiate season. The Longhorns also just added freshman guard and former Kansas signee Chris Johnson on Monday. He could make a solid impact in the rotation during his first collegiate season.
