WATCH: Longhorns 'Human Highlight Reel' Bijan Robinson's Top Texas Moments
Running back Bijan Robinson was the first Texas Longhorn to be selected in the first round of the NFL Draft since defensive tackle Malcom Brown in 2015. Robinson was drafted to the Atlanta Falcons with the No. 8 pick, but his dominance in his three years in Austin is what led him to the draft, and ultimately, the Falcons - so, what made Robinson's time at Texas memorable?
His ability to make highlight reel plays at any given moment, in any given game.
Robinson chose to enter the 2023 NFL Draft following his junior year at Texas, but after only three seasons in burnt orange, he rushed for a total of 3,410 yards. Robinson's total rushing yards placed him fourth amongst all-time Longhorn leading rushers, with a holding record of 6,279 total yards for Ricky Williams.
The 5-foot-11, 215-pound running back also ranks fourth all-time in 100-plus yard games. During his time at Texas, Robinson acquired 18 total.
His 33 touchdowns placed Robinson eighth among all-time Texas players. However, Williams set the bar high and holds the Longhorn record at 72 total touchdowns.
Robinson carved his name into the Longhorn record book early on during his freshman season at UT, setting the school record for yards per carry at 19.1 yards gained per rush following a Kansas State game. He set the highest average rushing yards per carry record during a season that same year at 8.2 yards per carry.
The No. 8 overall pick had a notable final season at Texas in 2022. With 1,580 rushing yards, 18 rushing touchdowns, and 19 receptions that converted into two scoreboard appearances and 314 yards, Robinson was able to secure the University of Texas' fifth Doak Walker Award, which is annually given to the top running back in collegiate football.
