UCLA Football: Former Bruins DB Commits to USC

The Bruins have lost yet another DB.

The exodus of defensive players is continuing for the UCLA Bruins. We announced last night that Kamari Ramsey had committed to USC, likely because of D'Anton Lynn's departure.

Ramsey had a wonderful 2023 campaign, logging 27 tackles, 1 INT, and 4 PD. Losing someone as prolific as Ramsey will certainly make an impact.

However, Ramsey isn't the only DB that has left UCLA. He has now been joined by DB John Humphrey, who has also committed to USC.

Humphrey ended the 2023 season with 22 solo tackles, 2 FF, 2 INT, and 3 PD. Humphrey's exit has left the Bruins backfield with some gaping holes.

Humphrey and Ramsey's exit has been coupled with Laiatu Latu, Gabriel Murphy, and Grayson Murphy—all of whom have entered the NFL Draft.

Though Chip Kelly can find ways to bring in players via the transfer portal, along with the myriad of young talent from signing day, these departures place a concern on the defensive side of the ball.

Kelly will need to reform his defensive starters, along with bringing in a new defensive coordinator now that the 2023 season has wrapped up.
