USC Basketball: Where Expert Sees Trojans Ranking In New Bracket
More buzz for the USC Trojans is growing day by day as more people realize that the mix of young talent they've gathered along with some important returners will give them quite the roster for the 2023-2024. Certain analysts have questioned about whether or not Bronny James will be able to handle the noise along with sharing the court with talented ball handlers in Boogie Ellis and Isaiah Collier.
However, he has been through it all already playing at Sierra Canyon High School. James played with the like of Amari Bailey, Ziaire Williams, Brandon Boston Jr, all of whom went to the NBA and he did so with gyms packed out at every game. Unfortunately, a lot of critics hope to see him fail but he has chosen the right program to help develop his game and play team ball.
Being the number one-ranked player in high school last year and a projected 2024 lottery pick, all eyes will be on Isaiah Collier as well to see how his game translates to the collegiate level. Boogie Ellis also likely would have gotten selected in this most recent draft but he opted to return another ride with the Trojans.
USC columnist Carter Bahns took a look at some early bracket projections for USC next season and he believes that they could be a tough matchup for some of the top seeds across the nation, including Duke.
"An immensely talented backcourt, which most notably includes incoming freshman
Bronny James
, gives USC a chance for a special final year in the Pac-12. The Trojans may not even need James to
produce at a significant level
to reach their ceiling with No. 2 overall recruit
Isaiah Collier
, incoming transfer
DJ Rodman
and returning veteran
Boogie Ellis
capable of carrying them to success. All of that talent would make USC a scary draw for No. 1 seed Duke, which seems to be hitting its stride under second-year head coach
Jon Scheyer
, and Texas, which is poised for another strong year as
Rodney Terry
takes over the full-time coaching duties."

Collier and Ellis have what it takes to carry a squad on both ends and James makes winning plays. Pair that with all of the talent the rest of the roster holds and this group holds some crazy tournament potential.
