USC Football: Watch Caleb Williams Crash Brenden Rice's Combine Interview
Star quarterback turned reporter?
As USC football wide receiver Brenden Rice spoke to the media at the NFL Scouting Combine, his quarterback, Caleb Williams, hilariously joined the media scrum to ask Rice a couple of questions, via the NFL.
Williams poked fun at the questions Rice is likely to get, asking him, "How does it feel to be Jerry Rice's son?"
Rice responded perfectly, saying, "Man, it feels even better to be the teammate of Caleb Williams."
Then Williams asked, "Why should they draft you as a fantasy player, should you be WR1, should you be the flex player?"
Rice said, "Me and you, what'd we have 45 catches and 12 [touchdowns], something like that. I had a pretty good quarterback."
Williams and Rice were quite the duo in their final season at USC. Rice caught 45 of Williams' passes for 791 yards and 12 touchdowns while averaging 17.5 yards per catch. If Rice can garner that level of production and especially touchdowns in his NFL rookie season, he will certainly prove to be a fantasy steal.
Both Williams and Rice are currently reunited at the NFL Scouting Combine in preparation for the 2024 NFL Draft. Williams is not doing any drills at the combine and is projected to go No. 1 overall or in the top three.
However, the combine could be vital for Rice, and the Trojans wide receiver will have a shot at improving his draft stock with a good performance. Currently, Rice is projected to be a Day 2 or Day 3 draft pick, but he has the opportunity to gain more momentum heading into the Draft in Indy or at USC's Pro Day later this month.
