Four-Star Forward David Punch Schedules Official Visit to UVA
Another priority recruiting target in the class of 2024 has scheduled an official visit to UVA. Four-star forward David Punch will reportedly take an official visit to Virginia on October 20th, the last of six official visits he has scheduled over the next two months. Per multiple reports, Punch will visit Penn State on September 9th, NC State on September 15th, TCU on September 22nd, Virginia Tech on September 30th, Xavier on October 13th, and Virginia on October 20th.
A 6'7" forward out of Harker Heights High School in Texas, Punch saw his recruitment take off this summer thanks to some impressive performances for Drive Nation on the Nike EYBL circuit. Punch averaged 13.3 points and 9.0 rebounds per game and is now considered one of the top rebounders in his class. 247Sports still has Punch rated as a three-star recruit, but On3 has Punch as a four-star prospect and the No. 97 overall recruit in the class of 2024.
More than 20 schools have extended scholarship offers to Punch and Virginia jumped in the mix with an offer back on July 10th. Now, Punch has signaled that UVA is a top contender in his recruitment by scheduling an official visit. It's even more significant that the Cavaliers are currently listed as the final school to host Punch for an official visit, as recruiting trends tend to heavily favor the last program to host a recruit for a visit. Tony Bennett and company certainly have a strong chance in Punch's recruitment.
Virginia has four prospects from the recruiting class of 2024 scheduled to come on official visits over the next two months. Four-star forward Jacob Cofie will visit Virginia on September 8th. Kon Knueppel, a five-star wing and top 20 overall recruit in the country, is set to visit on September 14th. Four-star forward Matthew Hodge will visit UVA officially on September 21st. And finally, David Punch is now scheduled to visit on October 20th.
Virginia is looking to secure its first verbal commitment from the recruiting class of 2024. The Cavaliers are hopeful that at least one of the four visits from Cofie, Knueppel, Hodge, and Punch will result in a commitment.
