One of UVA's priority recruiting targets in the class of 2024 cut his recruitment to 10 schools and the Cavaliers made the cut. Four-star forward Matthew Hodge announced his top 10 on Thursday afternoon and included Virginia along with Alabama, Maryland, Xavier, Seton Hall, Marquette, Villanova, Old Dominion, Penn State, and Pittsburgh.

A 6'8" forward out of St. Rose High School in Belmar, New Jersey, Hodge is rated a four-star prospect by the 247Sports Composite, which also ranks him as the No. 127 overall recruit in the class of 2024, the No. 26 power forward in the country, and the No. 5 player in the state of New Jersey.

Hodge's recruiting stock has steadily risen this year with his strong play for the PSA Cardinals. His versatility as a 6'8" wing is his strongest attribute, as he is able to put the ball on the deck and drive to the basket, knock down perimeter jump shots, and can guard multiple positions on the defensive end, including keeping up with guards and using his long frame to block shots, as seen in the video below.

With his impressive play this summer elevating his recruiting status, Hodge has scheduled several official visits over the course of August and September. Hodge visited Villanova at the end of July and is currently scheduled to take official visits to Xavier on August 29th, Penn State on August 31st, Marquette on September 7th, Maryland on September 14th, and Virginia on September 21st. He is also considering visits to other schools, but will reevaluate after the visit to UVA, according to Hodge's father Odell, who was a standout college basketball player at Old Dominion.

Virginia has three official visitors from the recruiting class of 2024 scheduled to come during the month of September. Four-star forward Jacob Cofie will visit Virginia on September 8th. Kon Knueppel, a five-star wing and top 20 overall recruit in the country, is set to visit on September 14th. Hodge rounds out the group and will visit UVA on September 21st.

With Christian Bliss reclassifying to the class of 2023 and coming to Grounds this fall, UVA's recruiting class of 2024 has been reset and currently has no verbal commits. The Cavaliers are hopeful that at least one of the three visits from Cofie, Knueppel, and Hodge will result in a commitment.
