Virginia Officially Signs St. Thomas Transfer Andrew Rohde
Virginia has officially signed St. Thomas transfer guard Andrew Rohde, UVA head coach Tony Bennett announced on Thursday afternoon.
“We are excited to add Andrew to the Virginia basketball family,” Bennett said. “Andrew is a talented guard, who had a terrific freshman season at St. Thomas. We look forward to him joining our program.”
A 6'6", 185-pound guard from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Rohde entered the transfer portal after spending one season at St. Thomas in Minnesota, where he started all 31 games as a true freshman. Rohde averaged 17.1 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.7 steals per game and was named the Summit League Freshman of the Year and was selected to the All-Summit League First Team.
Rohde officially signed a financial aid agreement and is transferring to UVA with three years of eligibility remaining.
“I knew UVA was the right fit from the start,” Rohde said. “Coach Bennett and the rest of the staff have developed such an amazing culture with great people. I can’t wait to be a part of such an amazing program and play with this group of guys. I am ready to get to work!”
Following an official visit to UVA last weekend, Rohde announced his commitment to Virginia on Tuesday, the same day that the Cavaliers officially signed Jordan Minor, a graduate transfer forward from Merrimack. Virginia is adding three transfers to its roster for the 2023-2024 season: Andrew Rohde, Jordan Minor, and Dante Harris, who transferred to Virginia from Georgetown back in December.
Virginia currently has nine scholarship spots filled for the 2023-2024 season. See UVA's updated scholarship chart here.
