Nick Saban reacts on whether he has "evidence" against Texas A&M
The war of words between Nick Saban and Jimbo Fisher shook up the college football offseason after Saban said Texas A&M "bought every player" on their team.
Jimbo responded with an all-time rant against the Alabama coach, defending himself against those claims and insinuating that Saban may not have always played by the rules himself.
Saban addressed the feud at this week's SEC coaches' meetings when asked if he had any evidence against the Aggies.
The short answer: No.
“I didn’t really say that anybody did anything wrong," Saban told reporters.
"I’ve said everything I’m going to say about this. I should have never mentioned any individual institutions as I’ve said before."
As for any issue with Jimbo?
"I didn't say anybody did anything wrong," Saban added. "I have no problem with Jimbo."
He may not have said it exactly those words, but Saban's original comments certainly left room for interpretation to that conclusion.
"A&M bought every player on their team," the Crimson Tide coach said earlier in May. "Made a deal for name, image, and likeness. We didn’t buy one player."
Jimbo, in turn, went off on Saban.
"Some people think they're God," he said, calling Saban a "narcissist" several times, and directly hinted that his rival may not have always been on the up-and-up during his record-breaking career.
"Go dig into how God did his deal," Fisher said in response.
He hinted any relationship between himself and Saban is effectively over, saying, "We're done," and, "I don't want to be associated with him."
Whatever is going on behind the scenes, we'll know where things stand on Oct. 8, when A&M and Alabama square off in Tuscaloosa head to head.
