In this story:

The Cincinnati Reds beat the Atlanta Braves on Friday night in a game that re-wrote the history books in multiple instances.

1) Before the game even started, it was one of the most rare matchups in baseball history in that it featured two teams with 8+ game winning streaks.

2) With the Reds win, this became the organization's longest winning streak in the expansion era (since 1961, 12 games).

3) Reds rookie Elly De La Cruz hit for the cycle, which was insane, and you can read about here.

4) De La Cruz also had a multi-hit game, which put him in an incredible statistical group in history.

And then there's also this:

Per ESPN Stats & Info:

The Braves-Reds game on Friday featured a cycle (De La Cruz), and 2 players with multiple HR (Olson, Votto). It was the 4th instance in AL/NL history a game featured a cycle and two players with multiple HR.

It was just an insanely good night for baseball as the sport's greatness was put on full display. The Reds overcame a 5-0 deficit in the win as De La Cruz went 4-5 with three runs scored and four RBI. Votto hit his third home run of the week after being activated off the injured list earlier this week.

And lost in all the De La Cruz talk is the play of Ronald Acuna Jr. The front runner for National League MVP went 3-5 and is now hitting .329.

It will be hard to duplicate but the two teams will play again on Saturday at 4:10 p.m. ET. Graham Ashcraft pitches for Cincy against Jared Shuster.
