Los Angeles Angels star Shohei Ohtani is already putting on a show in New York.

Ohtani hit a laser home run in the top of the first inning against the New York Yankees on Tuesday, taking a pitch from Clarke Schmidt out to deep right field.

MLB.com research expert Sarah Langs tweeted some impressive details about Ohtani's blast.

"SHOHEI OHTANI. 116.7 MPH. That’s his 7th career HR with a 116+ mph exit velocity, 3rd-most by any player tracked by Statcast (2015, including PS), behind only: Giancarlo Stanton: 26 Aaron Judge: 15

For Ohtani, that's his fourth home run of the season. He's out to a .310 batting average to start the year, with a .946 OPS. He has 11 RBI this year as well.

For his career at the plate, he's a .268 hitter with 131 home runs and 353 RBI.

Of course, with Ohtani, the story doesn't just end at the plate. The most unique player of our generation, he also is 2-0 with a 0.86 ERA this season. He pitched two innings on Monday against the Red Sox but ultimately was removed after a long rain delay.

We've written a lot about Ohtani here lately. We heard a good story earlier today about how St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Lars Nootbaar talked about playing alongside him in the WBC. We also wrote about Ohtani striking out his Team Japan teammate Masataka Yoshida yesterday against the Red Sox, and we heard Buster Olney of ESPN say that he thinks the Mets will be the biggest bidder for Ohtani's services in free agency.
